Reaches the arm up overhead.
Resists the springs as the arm opens back out to a T.

Scapular Upward Rotators
Serratus Anterior, Trapezius
Scapular upward rotators swing the bottom tip of the scapula under the armpit to stabilize the scapula as the arm reaches up overhead.

Other Muscles at Play
Scapular depressors keep the shoulder down away from the ear.
Anterior spinal stabilizers co-contract with the hip extensors to stabilize the lumbo-pelvic region.
Anterior & posterior spinal stabilizers keep the spine supported and stable in neutral.
Objectives
Teach proper scapulohumeral rhythm and upward rotation of the scapula during an overhead reach coming from the side.
Enhance scapular stability as the arm moves overhead from the side.
Strengthen the shoulder in an overhead reach coming from the side.
Challenge core strength & stability with unilateral movement.
Enhance control and strength of the core while on the moving carriage.
Challenge lumbo-pelvic stabilization by performing the exercise in a kneeling position.
Focus on breathing to synchronize the movement.
