Rectus Abdominis, External Oblique, Internal Oblique, Transversus Abdominis

  • Keep the lumbo-pelvic region stabilized in a posterior pelvic tilt.


Hip Flexors

Iliopsoas, Rectus Femoris, Sartorius, Tensor Fasciae Latae, Pectineus

  • Assist the spinal flexors and anterior spinal stabilizer stabilized in a posterior pelvic tilt.

  • Work harder and get a stretch as the carriage is pressed out.


Hip Extensors

Gluteus Maximus, Hamstrings

  • Straighten from the hip to push the carriage out.

  • Work harder when the carriage is out to not allow the hips to untuck.

  • Pull the carriage closed.


Other Muscles at Play

  • Scapular depressors keep the shoulders down away from the ears.

  • Knee extensors straighten the legs to push the carriage out.

  • Knee flexors assist the hip extensors to pull the carriage closed.

  • Hip external rotators keep the legs turned out to access the psoas stretch more.

  • Hip abductors keep the legs separated.

  • Dorsiflexors keep the feet flexed.


Objectives
  • Enhance the control and strength of your hip flexors and deep core.

  • Promote elongation and relaxation of the lumbar spine.

  • Enhance stability in the lumbo-pelvic region.

  • Focus on breathing to synchronize the movement.
