Hip Adductors

Adductor Longus, Adductor Brevis, Adductor Magnus, Gracilis, Pectineus

  • Control the carriage going out with the hip flexors and extensors.

  • Pull the carriage in with the hip flexors and extensors.

  • Maintain the integration of the midline connection for balance.

Hip Flexors

Iliopsoas, Rectus Femoris, Sartorius, Tensor Fasciae Latae, Pectineus

  • Work on the back leg to control the carriage going out with the hip adductors.

  • Work on the back leg to assist the hip adductors to pull the carriage closed.

Hip Extensors

Gluteus Maximus, Hamstrings

  • Work on the front leg to control the carriage going out with the hip adductors.

  • Work on the front leg to assist the hip adductors to pull the carriage closed.

Other Muscles at Play

  • Anterior & posterior spinal stabilizers provide lumbo-pelvic & spinal stabilization.

  • Knee extensors keep the knees straight.

  • Shoulder abductors resist gravity and keep the arms elevated in a T.

  • Scapular depressors keep the shoulders down away from the ears.

  • Plantar flexors keep the heels lifted.


Objectives
  • Enhance deep abdominal control to stabilize the trunk while smoothly moving the carriage using the hip adductors, extensors and flexors.

  • Ensure trunk stabilization by engaging your abdominal muscles during smooth, upright movements, especially while pushing away from the steady base.

  • Challenges balance and stability while standing on the moving carriage.

  • Focus on breathing to synchronize the movement.
